9/11 - World Trade Center Memorial

Please check out my full post on this at 3pointD.
Also, Rik Riel has added a fine, thoughtful post on this in his excellent The Click Heard Round The World blog.

Liam Kanno of the V3 Group has built a moving and poignant tribute to those who died in the massacres of September 11th. It makes no political statements, no vacuous words about the war on terror, no soundbites about justice, strength and fortitude. It strips all of that noise away, to remember the lives lost on that terrible day.

I know the photos are a bit crap, but that's what comes of rushing.
Here's a SLURL for the World Trade Center site.

Oh... and a big, big thank-you to Xantherus for telling me about this site.

Thank you for the posting, Aleister, this and the other one at 3D; they are soberly factual, but at the same time very emotional and moving too.

Also, I would not call your pictures 'crap' in any way, they are in fact very, very good.

Thank you, Centralasian. If I had had the time I would have liked to have refined the words more, and gone back to take more pictures. But I felt I needed to get this post out as quickly as possible.

I don't wish to be maudlin or overly sentimental - but this is such a dignified, intelligent and thoughtful build. My thanks to Xantherus Halberd , who brought it to my attention.

Love Liam’s work. He was in the original 2003 WTC memorial competition.

as was I.

Both visions evolved, responded positively, to the oportunities available to design and express in materials that do not exist in Real Life

9/11 is many things, and many memorials.

I’ve said this elsewhere in solemn words…

…and in simulated stone

All regards to all the builders of all the many memorials in Second Life, and to all the many, in all the worlds who have yet awakened from the fitful nightmare that shrounds their hearts, and seek some measure of comfort and hope.

If any memorial, if all of them combined, help but one heart rest easier, and look up again to hope, then our collective works are well worthwhile.

Beautifully expressed.

If you believe the US federal government story of 9/11, then consider going to: http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/9-11BasicQuestions.html - and ask yourself, why did the 9/11 Commission not ask these 361 questions, and why?
